Description of the Trail
The trail starts from the village of Kostitsi. Heading towards Ioannina on the main road, you will find the beginning of the trail on your right hand side. The first part of the trail is off road but very easy. After walking on the path for 40 minutes, a right turn needs to be taken and for 3.5 km the path becomes moderate in terms of difficulty. You will be surrounded by lots of nature, wild thyme, oregano and several other herbs which are worth picking.
You will then, reach a tributary of the Arachthos river called, Korovesios. At that point you must go right and follow the flow of the river. Walk along this beautiful path and after a 10 minute walk you will reach the Lisia Bridge and the Arachthos river. Make sure you do not go on the bridge as it is definitely not maintained and it can be dangerous. The Lisia Bridge was known to be a bridge where people used to transfer goods from.
Return the same way for Kostisti village. If however, you would like to visit the Elliniko village please return the same way until you reach an old building (old mill) where you may follow the sign for Elliniko square and not the Monastery as the path is not maintained.
