Breakfast
Make sure you try our home-made jams! Most of these jams are made from the wild fruit such as elderberries, Cornelian cherries and mirabelles which grow in the hotel’s grounds.
There is a selection of local cheeses including “galotyri”, the special yoghurty cheese of the region. There are home-made pies traditionally baked, sometimes with leeks, sometimes with courgettes and sometimes with spinach and local greens and herbs. Also on the menu are Tiganites, (fritters with honey and cinnamon), “tahini”, (sesame spread) and “trahana”, (the Greek take on porridge) served on very cold days as well as omelettes made with free-range eggs from the Tzoumerka Mountains and cold cuts.
Most fitting the title of Greek Breakfast however, are the delicious Greek yoghurt, local honey and the olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and fresh seasonal fruit. Greek coffee, mountain and elderflower tea, camomile and nettle, form alternatives to the filter coffee and breakfast teas. There are always home-made biscuits and cakes and sometimes syrupy sweets which are the traditional deserts of the region.
All these and more are served in the courtyard in the summer looking on to the sunlit view of the majestic Tzoumerka Mountains and in the warmth of a crackling log fire in the dining room in winter.
